Nutrition Educator-St. Louis District Dairy Council

 

We’re looking for an energetic, self-directed dietitian to join our team! For 90 years, St. Louis District Dairy Council has promoted dairy food and farmers through innovative engagement at the local level. The Nutrition Educator position involves building and leveraging strong relationships with strategic partners throughout Missouri and Illinois.  Working alongside a team to develop and deliver initiatives that connect consumers with dairy foods, facts and farms is critical to this role.

Organization Information: St. Louis District Dairy Council is a 501(c)(3) organization funded by Missouri and Illinois dairy farmers. SLDDC communicates the role that dairy foods play in a healthful diet through personalized local programs. Established in 1932, the organization engages educators, health professionals and consumer groups throughout its 131 counties in Central/Eastern Missouri and Central/Southern Illinois. www.stldairycouncil.org

Brief Summary of Position:

Builds and activates relationships with health and wellness partners throughout a territory spanning central/southern Missouri and the metro St. Louis area.  Develops, delivers and evaluates programs to promote dairy’s contributions to health in a variety of settings within the assigned territory. Serves as spokesperson for local dairy industry with the media and community organizations.

Job Responsibilities:

Educate consumers on the role of dairy foods in health and wellness, with a focus on K-12 schools.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with identified partners to drive engagement in local initiatives.

Provide science-based nutrition information and resources to build support for dairy foods and dairy farmers.

Proactively secure partnerships on local/state level to strategically advance the organization’s mission of dairy promotion.

Attend and present at a variety of events, including conferences, workshops, and tours.

Work collaboratively in small team environment.

Track territory activities via internal and external reporting systems.

Prioritize, make decisions and schedule duties independently to meet goals without direct supervision.

Qualifications:

Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and desire to work with people

Ability to build and advance relationships to grow support for dairy and the dairy industry

Willingness to learn, share ideas and innovate in a team environment

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

Must enjoy dairy foods

Education and Experience:  Bachelors Degree in Food & Nutrition/Dietetics is required. Certification as Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is required. 3-5 years of professional experience in nutrition communications, health promotion, public relations or related field is required. School nutrition management experience/knowledge desired. Experience working with the media/agriculture industry a plus.

This full-time opportunity involves regular travel throughout assigned territory, with occasional overnight/weekend events. Position is based in Kirkwood, MO headquarters office.
