Funding Opportunities for Your School. Earn up to $2000* to promote 3 servings of dairy every day!

HERE ARE SOME IDEAS ON HOW TO USE FUNDING.

BREAKFAST IN THE CLASSROOM
Students enter the classroom followed closely by a cart delivering a delicious, nutritious breakfast. Each student takes a pre-portioned meal and a cold milk, and eats breakfast while the teacher takes attendance, reads to students, or completes other morning tasks. Students clean up their desks quickly and efficiently, and the cart is returned to the cafeteria by a student helper, a cafeteria staff person, or a custodian. Many more students eat breakfast when it is offered in the classroom rather than in the cafeteria, so more students start the day on a full stomach and ready to learn. Make the grade by introducing Breakfast in the Classroom at your school!

GRAB 'N' GO BREAKFAST
This is exactly what students do...grab a bagged meal from mobile carts, a breakfast kiosk at the school entrance, or maybe even the cafeteria line. Some schools offer Grab 'N' Go Breakfast after first period, as many students do not feel like eating early in the morning or they arrive at school just in time for the bell, leaving no time to stop by the cafeteria. Secondary students especially like the flexibility and choices of Grab 'N' Go; it is a great way to reinforce the healthy habit of breakfast. Menu ideas include yogurt parfaits, bagels, egg and cheese sandwiches, cereal bars, and granola, all served with cold milk and fruit or 100% fruit juice. Support student success by making healthy breakfast choices easy for students on the go!

SMOOTHIES
Dairy-based smoothies can be an exciting way to provide a healthy, delicious option for students at breakfast and lunch. This school year, middle school students in the Rockwood School District in St. Louis, Missouri, have been enjoying a unique blender drink made from milk and frozen fruit. The variety of flavors and contests to name the drink have generated excitement among students and the foodservice department benefits from the popularity of this reimbursable option. Many schools are whipping up yogurt smoothies—a healthy and student-friendly addition to their a la carte menus. Let the “Dollars for Dairy” Grant help jump-start a smoothie program at your school!
